Day 6 - May 16th

 Today we were unable to fly because the plane I was supposed to practice was in maintenance. We still made the most of our day with ground instruction though. After a long study session for 3 hours in the morning, I went to the airfield and did some ground instruction for two hours. We learned about different airspaces like class b, c, and d, and learned how to read charts more. Then we talked more about power on stalls and simulated engine failures or engine fires even and other emergencies. After I studied more charts for about two hours practicing my literacy. Looking forward to having the chance to fly tomorrow.

Week 1 Reflection

Whats up blog, I can definitely say we had a good week this week. I learned and studied a lot and am happy with my progress. I have really been enjoying flying so far and learning the ways of airplanes. I started out on the ground just running through how the preflight works and my checklists to get a sense of how flying begins. We also talked a lot about wings and lift and learning what forces contribute to the plane flying.  Once we got in the air after some days of heavy wind, we finally got up into the air. I taxied to the runways which was kind of challenging steering with the rutter pedals. I would like to get more practice at this because it is an integral part of taking off keeping the plane straight down the runway so if I want to progress I need that too. Once we were in the sky, I was practicing my slow climbs and descents, as well as turns of various bank angles. Day 3 - May 10th

 Hey there,  Today was yet another amazing day up in the sky. It started off early with some exercise and studying about two hours working on my traffic commands, and then we went to the airfield. We began the session with another weather briefing on the iPad, and worked through the airmets, notams, and more. Then, we got out to the plane and completed our interior and exterior checking, before turning on the plane and taxiing to runway 30, different to runway 35 we had used the previous day. My instructor did most of the work taking off but I mirrored his controls to get the feel of how it works. Maybe we will try taking off next time. Once we got off the ground, I took over and was responsible for our climb to 3,000 feet, our cruising altitude. Then, I worked a lot on turning to specific headings on my gyrocompass and making sure I was using the right amount of bank angle to level out in the right location. Day 11 may 22nd

 What's up blog, today was my best day up in the sky so far. I began the day with easy studying for about two hours and then headed to the airport for my final flying day. I'll explain why I'm not flying tomorrow in my next blog. When I got to the airport, my instructor Adam informed me that we would try to do as many takeoffs and landings as possible within our timeframe. We only had a two-hour session so we did not have much time. This was worsened by the fact that we only discovered the fact that our headphone jacks and radio were not working. We had to transition to another plane and redo the preflight process, but once we got moving I did another takeoff which went decently. We stayed in the traffic pattern three times before landing and calling it a session. It was my first time landing so I was happy to develop that skill. My total for today was 4 hours and my project total is 75.5.
